Marla Isaac studied music from the 6th grade until her junior year of undergraduate studies. She played the alto saxophone in concert band, jazz band, and marching band. She earned the honor of performing in all region and all state ensembles throughout high school. She found her love of directing and teaching when earning the position of the Drum Major of Harmony Grove High School marching band. She sang in the choir throughout high school earning the honor of performing in all region and state choir. Marla earned a full scholarship and the honor of performing in the chamber chorale, concert choir, and opera workshop while at Henderson State University. She studied directly under Dr. William Higgins for vocal performance. Marla toured Germany and Austria, and multiple states performing with the Chamber Chorale and Opera representing Henderson State University from 2007-2009.

Marla completed her undergraduate studies at Henderson State University minoring in Vocal Performance, Spanish, and majoring in Psychology. She was a Behavior Instructor at mental health hospitals and residential centers for many years. She had the role of Program Consult at Methodist Children’s home and managed two girls’ homes, staff, and behavior treatment plans. While with the Division of Children and Family Services as an investigator and resource worker, she was able to complete her Master of Social Work through Walden University. She then served as a Direct Care Disabilities Supervisor for children and adults. Marla incorporated music therapy into her practice as a Behavior Instructor and Social Worker.

After 11 years in a clinical and field setting as a Social Worker and Behavior Instructor, Marla and her family felt her being called to homeschool their youngest 3 children and open her nonprofit Pathway, Youth and Family Services. Pathway, YFS proudly serves the fostering community and low-income families across the state of Arkansas. Marla’s first year as a homeschool parent, she taught High School choir through the Benton Homeschool Co-op and knew it was time to share her love of music once again. In the Fall of 2024, Marla began teaching at Doxa Arts Academy as a music teacher for the Doxa Homeschool Enrichment Program. She then began teaching private music lessons. Marla assisted in introducing new instrumental practices in music classes, assisted in starting the first Homeschool Band and Band Camp at the Academy, and serves as the Social Worker for the Academy.

Marla has been married for 11 years to her husband, Justin. They have 5 children, 3 of which are homeschooled: Chase, Emmalyn, Dezlee, Jemma and Maliyah. They attend Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant. Marla is so excited to share the beauty of the universal language, music.
