Amy began dancing at the age of 3. She studied ballet, jazz, and lyrical with Alpine Peaks Dance Studio, where her competitive team won many awards. Amy has always loved to dance but, in middle school, she was introduced to modern dance and fell in love with the way it allowed her to express emotions through movement.
Amy danced competitively throughout high school and with the Lone Peak High Performing Dance Company. Her high school dance company won an invitation to Nationals and won first place in the dance category at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Amy also had the opportunity to attend workshops at BYU and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.
Amy continued dancing in college and had the opportunity to choreograph and perform as a soloist for USU Eastern Dance Ensemble where she also competed in the Miss USU Eastern pageant and won 2nd attendant.
Amy graduated from college with a degree in Creative Writing. She then joined Valley Dance Ensemble, an adult modern dance company that performed in the community and annually at the historic Ellen Eccles Theater. Amy danced with the ensemble for 5 years and taught creative dance with their Youth Company for 3 years. Through Valley Dance Ensemble, Amy had the opportunity to attend teacher workshops with Chara Hutchings, improvisation workshops, and an Ailey II masterclass.
In addition to dance, Amy loves to hand embroider, read, write poetry, spend time in nature, bake, and have dance parties in the kitchen with her husband and two kids. Amy is a self-taught graphic designer and worked for the Utah State 4-H Office for 4 years serving youth all over the state. Now Amy is working her dream job of being a mom!
Amy moved to Arkansas in 2020 and is so excited to join the Doxa family and have a dance community again. She is passionate about creative dance and the ways it can foster independence, confidence, and creativity in children. Amy says her soul is happiest when she is dancing!
