Marla Isaac studied music from the 6th grade until her junior year of undergraduate studies. She played the alto saxophone in concert band, jazz band, marching band, and vocal accompaniment. She earned the honor of performing in all region and all state ensembles throughout high school. She found her love of directing and teaching when earning the position of the Drum Major of Harmony Grove High School marching band. She sang in the choir throughout high school earning the honor of performing in all region and state choir. She completed her senior year of High School taking AP music courses applying to her studies at Henderson State University. Marla earned a full scholarship and the honor of performing in the chamber chorale, concert choir, and opera workshop while at Henderson State University. She studied directly under Dr. William Higgins for vocal performance. Marla toured Germany and Austria performing with the Chamber Chorale and Opera representing Henderson State University in 2008. She toured multiple states, performing vocal pieces of an array of composers.
Marla has performed every genre of music in front of live audiences across the world in instrumental and vocal settings. She completed her undergraduate studies at Henderson state University minoring in Vocal Education, Spanish, and majoring in Psychology. Marla brought music therapy to her studies in graduate school at Walden University. She was able to incorporate music into multiple mental health programs in the state through individual and group therapy. Marla worked in mental health for 8 years where she served as a consultant for the Residential Treatment Center with Methodist Children’s Home. She found her true love of foster and adoptive families and transitioned her career to child welfare. While with the Division of Children and Family Services, she was able to complete her Master of Social Work through Walden University. She served Saline and Perry County as a Resource Worker and Investigator through the Division of Children and Family Services for 4 years. She then served as a Developmental Disability Supervisor for one year working directly with staff, children and families. While working with DDS, Marla and her family felt her being called to homeschool their youngest 3 children and open her nonprofit Pathway, Youth and Family Services. Pathway, YFS proudly serves the fostering community across the state of Arkansas.
Marla’s first year as a homeschool parent, she taught High School choir through the Benton Homeschool Co-op and knew it was time to share her love of music once again.
Marla has been married for 9 years to her husband, Justin. They have 5 children, 3 of which are homeschooled: Chase, Emmalyn, Dezlee, Jemma and Maliyah. They attend Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant. Marla is so excited to teach children the beauty of the universal language, music.
