Gina began dancing at the age of nine. She danced at the Diane East School of Ballet in Bellflower, California until age 16. During that time, she was a company dancer at the school. After high school, she continued to dance in college in the dance companies at Cerritos College and California State University Long Beach. She also danced with the Long Beach Ballet in several productions over her time in that area.
After graduating from college with an accounting degree, she began working at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas. She didn’t begin dancing again until after she had children who were also dancing. She studied dance at UALR and Ballet Arkansas where she participated in productions.
She also danced at the Performing Arts Conservatory in Little Rock and served as a company dancer with Sankofa Performing Arts Dance Theatre, which performs ballet, contemporary, and modern styles of dance all over the state of Arkansas. Gina performed almost exclusively African dance with Sankofa, whose name loosely means to go back to where you came from to grow and learn.
Gina has spent decades in worship dance in churches in numerous locations. She has led teams of dancers, both trained and untrained, in connecting movement to the surrender of worship.
Gina has been a choreographer and instructor at Doxa Arts Academy since its formation in 2015. She has taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, and Hip-Hop. She studied Cecchetti ballet and received certificates for Grades I through IV and teaches in the Cecchetti program at the academy. Dance is Gina’s passion, and as a Christian, it has become more important to her to show dance as an expression of praise and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ. It is her vision that our students become skilled dancers who can also use dance as a form of true worship.
Gina is married to Garry and has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
